Weird name? Maybe. Weird blog? Definitely! Welcome to The Dark Side, a blog all about the Backstreet Boys. Basically the modernized version of those Backstreet Boys’ Fan Sites from back in the day. I am a fan who likes to talk about her favorite group. You’ll find humor posts, discussions, a fully stocked media archive, analyzing, basically anything you can think of. Talk and write about what you know, that’s what they say isn’t it? My goal is to get fans thinking and talking. I started this site back in 2015 and carried over the name from the BSB forum that I moderate, that helped inspire it’s creation. Sure I could change the name now that this blog has it’s own life but honestly I think I just love the quirkiness.

The Story of The Dark Side’s Origins (TDS)

Also known as the answer to the most common question I get, how this place got its name.

So…once upon a time, there was a forum called LiveDaily.

At this forum, there happened to be some moderators that a fairly large group of posters thought were unfair due to bans over Jello…(not kidding, it was totally over Jello), so a lovely fan named Emma began a new message board we could go to instead. Given how we were seen as an unruly bunch, we dubbed it The Dark Side. That was back in February 2010. We were told it wouldn’t last, that we’d come back. But we not only outlived that forum, we outlived the After Live Daily forum that followed. We held strong for years as the largest English-speaking Backstreet Boys forum left on the internet.

We’ve tried to grow since then, forming a twitter over at @TheDarkSideBSB. Then I pitched this idea of a blog to expand…and this was the result. I just want to help a fandom that’s been there for me and for others over the years. Not to mention, I have a lot of fun doing this. The forum finally closed this year in 2022 due to a combination of reasons. But have no fear, I’ll carry on here, and in that way the rebellious spirit won’t die.

My name is Rose. I’m just a simple girl that calls Las Vegas home. Been a fan since around 1997. My favorite Backstreet Boy is Nick though I’m pretty fond of Kevin – actually I’m very fond of all five. I just have a Nick tendency. I’ve written for fun for years so why not about my favorite group? My other main fandom is for the TV show The Walking Dead. If I’m not writing? I’m probably reading. I have a fan page twitter I run by myself outside of the TDS account called @bsbinvegas (created originally for the #BSBVegas residency but is now “BSB On Tour”.) I also have a blog dedicated to Nick on his own called Forever Rebel and a twitter to go with it @IWillB4EvrRebel.
