Three years ago, I had an idea to expand the little corner of the internet TDS calls home. I was inspired by Sara’s What Happens On The Backstreet and the fun way she managed to help the fandom. I wanted a way to contribute to a fandom that’s been there for me when I needed it most. I wanted a place to really share my thoughts, over-analyze, and poke fun at my favorite music group. I love to write, always have, and this seemed like a fun project. I didn’t expect it to go anywhere, not really. I was doing this thinking if people read it, that would be cool. The end goal was to bring more attention to our message board.
I started this towards the end of the In A World Like This era and it’s so freaking awesome I’m here doing this as the new album era begins. I wanted an outlet to really talk about Brian’s vocal dysphonia and help explain it. It’s still my most popular post to date. And watching him get better since that day has been a real joy for me. It warms my heart. I never thought anything that has happened since the day I started the blog would happen. It’s very surreal when I let myself think about it. I’ve seen and met many of you guys here in Vegas, and this fandom has never felt more like a family to me.
It’s been a crazy ride. I didn’t expect anything that would follow. And honestly I’m thankful for everything I’ve been part of thanks to this little experiment. This isn’t because of me. This is because of you guys. If it wasn’t for you reading, I may not still be blogging. This is because of all of you who follow our twitter. You guys that like the Facebook page. Any of you who subscribe to our YouTube channel. And especially any of you who’d been around since the beginning of the TDS forums, from our days on Proboards to our current home at thedarksidebsb.net. You guys are amazing. And honestly I appreciate every single one of you.
All of you – the Boys, and my fellow fans, make this fandom such a joy. But it’s your support is why the Boys know this blog and twitter exist. You guys are WHY I’m able to contribute and help this fandom even more. YOU are why I keep at it. And thank you Nick, Brian, Kevin, AJ and Howie. You five being so sweet, passionate, and great to your fans? You make it so EASY to be fan. Please don’t change. You guys deserve all the success you’re getting right now and I couldn’t be prouder. My support for you as a fan comes because you guys are so great to us. So thank you. Really. It’s been such a crazy journey over the past three years on here. I don’t plan on stopping any time soon, so here’s to the future!
And I hope that means I’ll keep at this for many years to come.
