The Top Five Collaborations BSB Have Done

We still have some quiet time before the next single, before the upcoming album. Nick is on his solo tour and I’m eating my heart out wishing I was south of the border. Because of that I’m trying to refocus and not lose my mind to FOMO – fear of missing out. This post was the result. Because the Boys don’t collaborate as often as other artists so when they do? It’s something pretty damn special! Sometimes it’s a song, other times it’s just a performance. It really doesn’t matter cause it’s always amazing. I was going to talk about collaborations I’d like to see in the future but I want your opinions too! So tweet them to me at @thedarksidebsb or comment below! The most popular answers will make it in!

For now, I’ll focus on the greatness that’s happened in the past…

Elton John and BSB…

at the 2000 Grammys

Elton is a fucking legend, excuse my language. Nothing will convince me that wasn’t one of the greatest highlights of their career. Not to mention? This performance was SO FREAKING GOOD.

At Party in the Park…

They performed one of Elton’s songs with them, and that was pretty epic. But Elton singing a Backstreet Boys song with them? HOLY SHIT that’s even better! Not going to lie, as I’m typing this, I have these two videos playing in the background. It’s easy to forget how our Boys have has some crazy legendary moments over the years. I can’t get over it.

Performing with Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder

She was one of great queens of soul and honestly, the world lost something precious when Aretha passed away. With her recent death, I remembered that the Boys performed with her. As someone who was raised on 50s/60s/70s music thanks to my mom, I remember being so excited by this. It was during a VH1 Divas tribute to her. (Don’t you miss shows like that?) and as you can see in the clip, there’s a performance with all the artists, with AJ and Howie right next to Stevie wonder. In fact – AJ just said it was one of the greatest moments of his career. I don’t know why Brian and Nick weren’t there but it was incredible nonetheless.

Honestly, I’d love for them to do a tribute to Stevie, he’s got some classics. A Backstreet Boys cover of I Was Made To Love Her? Jesus. I’d die. You know, maybe I should make a part two to my old songs we’d like to see them cover post. I’m digressing here, but this got me thinking about it. Either way, Stevie Wonder…please perform with BSB again.

BSB and FGL

:Love them or hate them, you can’t deny this brought this a lot of attention. Because honestly how often do BSB collaborate with other artists on records, and across genes like this? That’s right, you don’t! But here’s the thing, while I know we all enjoy God, Your Mama, and Me…

I think we can all agree on the fact the cover of H.O.L.Y is the real gem that came of this, am I right? Because man, those harmonies! Why can’t this be a Backstreet Boys song? It’s everything I could want in one all wrapped up in a pretty bow. No offense to FGL or anyone who is a fan of theirs, but they do a better job than the original artist. I’m sorry. It’s just that good.

Meghan Trainor singing with BSB

so I Want It That Way made some sort of weird sense…

Now I know many are going to disagree with this one, but to see a well established and trendy artist practically swooning as she sang with the Boys? That’s pretty damn cool. And honestly? I’ve said this before but having the song serve as a back and forth between a woman and a man, gave the song a weird kind of new perspective. The song started making more sense and while I wouldn’t change a thing, it did make me consider the idea that perhaps the song should’ve been a duet. I’d love to see this collaboration repeat itself one day in the future.

The Boys With Shania…

Singing From This Moment and making us all wish we could have this version at our weddings.

Now, Shania Twain is a great country artist. She’s one of the only ones I like as I’m not a country fan in the slightest. But they were both major in the 90s, and this duet to her song has made me wish so many times over that they’d recorded it together. It’s beautiful. This is another one I’d love to see reunite someday. They’re still friendly. She came out to support the #BSBVegas residency just last year! It’s not out of the realm of possibility to see happen. Not to mention, she dealt with the exact same vocal condition Brian has been coping with, so if anything, she’ll be able to relate to the Boys even more than before. The world of country has clearly accepted BSB and while I don’t want a full album in that genre, I know a song together would be fantastic.

So what artists would you like to see them collaborate with that they hadn’t teamed up with before? Who do you think should’ve made this list? Comment below or tweet us to tell us what you think!

  1. The Shania Twain collaboration means so much to me. We used this version of “From this Moment” in our wedding ceremony. I was so wanting as many BSB songs in my wedding as possible. But I’m 2002 not to many meant as much to me as this one.

  2. Mindi Abair because she was in the Millennium tour band. and it would have the same genre bending effect as the Collabration with FGL.
