BSB Album Updates – The 2017 Edition

So I know a lot of us have been eagerly awaiting the new Backstreet Boys album. We’re currently riding a wave of popularity we haven’t seen at such heights since daresay…1999? Our Boys are all over the place. – on awards shows, booking summer shows, guest judging, collaborating in music videos, etc. And while yes we’re enjoying ALL that #BSBVegas has had to offer, we can’t help but be curious about the next BSB album because In A World Like This will be hitting it’s four year anniversary this summer. We’re craving, I totally get it. (Try being a Christina Aguilera fan…)

They’ve been recording since then! And we’ve been tracking it all this time. In our 2016 post you can find the history of their album making progress. Look’s like it’s picking up again and while some might think it’s a little soon, I wanted to get a jump on it.

There’s not much *new* information…YET. But I can say this, the Boys are recording again! These instagram pictures popped up from The Hideout. The Hideout is a recording studio out in Henderson not too far from the Strip and it looks like they decided to use their downtime between Vegas shows to good use!

 

Now, we don’t know who they’re working with in those shots, but trust me when I say I’ll post the moment we know more. Hopefully we’ll get some word on if they’re still planning on using some of the songs from their 2015 and 2016 recording sessions or not. Or heck, maybe we could hope for a leak (only if they’re not using them for an album) cause I’m just curious. Aren’t we all?

The Boys also discussed in their Fox 5 interview at the Fashion Show Mall’s Sugar Factory Restaurant that they’re working on a new album.

The goal, according them, is to have a single out by the end of the year. New music! I AM READY. We all are, but just a reminder – be patient, and have some faith in our Boys. They’ve come this far and they deserve trust from the fandom. The album will come when it’s ready and not a moment before. And personally? That’s okay for me. When they discuss regrets, rushing Black and Blue comes up, how it burned them out, how it was rushed. I don’t want that ever again. So enjoy the moment, and trust that everything will come in due time.

They’re signed to a label! In a blink before you miss it moment, we caught Kevin say in this KTUphoria interview that the group is signed to RCA. The group also says again that we’ll have a single by late summer/early fall. Color me excited! And curious…

Because having a label backing them again changes the game y’all.

Nick mentions in this interview that a single will be out within the next month or so! Notice the consistency in the timeline? We may not have to deal with Backstreet Time! I’m optimistic!

…“I’d say you should be expecting a new single hopefully by the end of the year and then right after that, an album very soon after that and then a tour,” Nick said in a recent interview promoting Boy Band.

Basically the schedule is shifting a bit but they’re on track. They’ll be recording more when they’re back here in Vegas this November and I’m excited! They’ve gotten better at surprises so who knows what will happen!

“We’re talking with a bunch of producers and seeing what makes the most sense and this made a lot of sense since Nick’s been working with [Timbaland] on Boy Band,” Howie Dorough says. “We’re all huge fans of him and we’ve never had a chance to work together, so we were just talking and vibing to see if it might make sense to [record] together.”

“He said he’s pretty much worked with everybody except us and was like, ‘I’m not sure how that fell through the cracks,’” adds McLean. “I told him, ‘Dude, it’s overdue!’”

How cool would that be, to have a Timbaland produced single?

Okay I may have to do a 2018 Edition soon of this post. BUT in this new interview, the Boys confirm the process is “coming to a head” and promise a “March single”.
