I know I said I was only doing these in April. But I got busy and couldn’t do as many as I wanted. And to be honest…#BSB25 should go all year! It’s the year of Backstreet as I keep saying on this blog. And while this Vegas blogger couldn’t make it on the cruise this year, it looks like this was the best one yet. But it also got me thinking back to the very FIRST cruise. The cruise where no one knew what to expect and no one knew if they’d ever be crazy enough to do it again. But aren’t we glad they did? Let’s go back to 2010…
So, let’s not forget – this was the ONLY cruise that was only a half charter. What do I mean by that? Well, that meant only half the boat was for BSB fans doing the cruise. The rest of the boat was filled with normal people going on a trip to the Keys and Cozumel. Which ended up pretty funny cause they really weren’t warned about the Backstreet Invasion. But in other ways, it was amazing. There was a lot of downtime for the Boys themselves because they didn’t have to do two sets of events, just one. So they brought their families. I can’t tell you how often you’d see the Boys chilling or doing things with their loved ones. It felt like you were more…vacationing with the Boys instead

This was also during a time when the Boys weren’t so connected to their fans. Twitter was still pretty new – the Boys weren’t following fans. VIPs? You stood in front of a barrier and posed with the Boys. They didn’t really have after-parties yet. This was the first really major event where fans could bond with the Boys. I know me personally? I’d never met them and the idea I finally could after being a fan for around thirteen years (at that time) was what sold me on it. I remember when most fans thought this was nuts, that this in no way would be worth it. Obviously, they were wrong.

And while yes, it wasn’t as connected as future cruises could be, we got a closer look at our five four (at the time, so happy we’re back at five!) favorite men. Each cruise had something different and something special. This was the first and honestly it got me hooked on BSB Cruises for life. They picked fans for events literally outside the doors of the lounge, it’s how I ended up on stage for an event. Everything about this cruise felt so spontaneous!
